Why the name ‘Anything That Matters?’

Because ‘Everything That Matters’ is beyond my capacity to pursue as a writer and ‘Nothing Matters’ is somewhat limited in scope.  So, I’m free to write, and you’re free to read about anything that (I think) matters which, if I’m as astute an observer and philosopher as I might portend, probably matters to you and most people on the planet and who aren’t living alone with a ball named ‘Wilson.’

Who am I?

A guy blogging and writing under the pseudonym, JCMcpherson, derived from my actual initials with a moniker that my grandmother assigned me as a young child.  When I’d make muscles and fierce faces she would say, “Here comes JC Atlas Mcpherson!”  I think she assigned the surname as a tribute to our family’s Scottish heritage and the middle name referred to the great bodybuilder, Charles Atlas.  Yeah, I know, so what, right?

Where am I from?

Elmira, New York

Where have I been?

Quite a few places.  Twenty-two years in the Air Force took me to Central America, Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, and more than a dozen U.S. states.

Where am I now?

Who wants to know?  Oh, you do, right, okay.  Belleville, Illinois

What am I all about?

Hopefully, that will be evident through my writing and interactions with readers.  In no particular order – on any given day – I’m

an advocate of ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’ and promoting justice, peace, wellness, and prosperity for all,

interested in what makes people think what they think, feel what they feel, say what they say, and do what they do,

curious about what we can see and what we cannot see; what we think we understand and what we know we don’t or might not,

fond of family, friends, food, fun, and more than a few vices,

generally interested in what’s going on and why in this world and beyond,

and not ready to give up or die just yet.

What I like to watch

Live performances (comedy, music, plays), sports (most), and binge-watching shows on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO, and Showtime.

What I like to do (recently)

Eat, sleep, think about exercising, lift weights, ride a bike, walk, practice karate), listen to music, rain, and (most) people, write, read, laugh, love, wonder, wander, practice playing drums, piano, guitar, singing, acting, and standup comedy.

What else?

Ask.  Read my work.  Speculate … wait, no, don’t do too much of that.  Like many people, I have favorite movies, TV, music, clothing, food, people, places, and other things.  You likely read about most of it soon enough.

P.S. Tell me little about you.  What are your interests?  Likes? Dislikes?
